The information I get about my child from Compassion doesn't match what is said in his/her letters

For several of my sponsored children, it seems that the information CI is passing along to me doesn't match with what they are telling me in their letters. For example, I was told that the birthday of my girl was one month, and I sent money for a gift, and then I received a letter from her telling me how she had celebrated her birthday, and it was a different date, and no mention of any gift from us. I contacted CI to clarify the date of her birthday, and they said they would get back to me but I have heard no more, just received bills to pay more money in.
I have sponsored one child for years, and I received a letter from him thanking me for sponsoring him for the last four months!
We are just not sure if our sponsorship is going where CI says, if there is such a problem with the accuracy of the information.

Hi Deb, sorry this happening to you. I'm sure someone from Compassion will also reply and can give you more specific information, but until then I thought I would chime in.

For your girl who seems to have a different birthday, is she from Africa? I know some countries just don't keep good records of that, so no one is really clear. How long ago did you contact Compassion about it? Things can take awhile, because Compassion has to let the Country office know where your child lives. Then they would have to gather information for your child's center and probably your child's family as well.

Then, for the letter thank you for sponsoring for 4 months, is it possible the translation is incorrect? There are times I notice little differences between what my child wrote and what it gets translated to. If it turns out it is not a translation problem, it may be a good idea to copy and send to Compassion. They regularly check that the centers are up to standard and if you have concerns that your child isn't receiving or acknowledging your letters, that will be something Compassion will want to know. The truth is your money is going to a great organization. They are highly rated and as someone that has been to meet and visit some of my kids, your money is being used to do what they say it is. I pray that Compassion can help clear some concerns up for you and also that God will just give you peace about the giving you have done and are doing.
