Can you tell me if the typhoon/flooding has affected my sponsored child, Reymark?

Check your email. I got an email asking me to pray about four hours ago. The body was: As you may have heard in the news, Typhoon Koppu hit the west coast of the Philippine island of Luzon on Saturday, causing widespread power outages and flooding. The hardest hit areas are north of Manila. The storm is expected to linger over the island for another day or two.

Authorities have had to evacuate several areas due to flooding. Because the children we serve are so vulnerable and live in poorly constructed homes, storms like these with flash flooding and mudslides can be just devastating. At this time, there have been no reports of Compassion children being injured.

Please join us in prayer today for:
  • The children and families in areas where large amounts of rain are still forecasted. Pray with us that God will place His hand of protection over them, and that they would be safe from flooding.
  • The Compassion staff and our church partners in the Philippines.
Be assured that Compassion is carefully watching this storm. And our partner church staff members are on standby to visit children’s homes, assess their families’ needs and offer help.

Karen, I know that this storm must have you worried about Reymark but please rest assured that as Garry mentioned, we are watching this storm very carefully and providing support to families and children that are directly impacted or were in the path of this typhoon. We do not yet have information on which children have been affected but we are praising God as there have been no reports of any of our beneficiaries being injured. We are grateful for your continued prayers during this time for our children as well as our staff on the ground in the Philippines as they continue to assess the damage and provide assistance to these families and help keep them safe.
