Is there some way for us to encourage each student center pastor to update their letters to us? And post them to Our Compassion? I think all of us would benefit from having more detailed information about the student centers where we sponsor our children. Not only more information but more current information. Maybe updating information every six months? Could we put a letter to the pastor in with our child's letter? A way of letting the pastors know that we appreciate what they are doing for the children? Does anyone else share these desires? I would appreciate an official response. Thank you. wildrider

Hi Kenneth! We are currently looking into this. Since the topic came up on OurCompassion, we have been considering this idea. I will keep you posted on whether we will be pursuing this idea and our progress in implementation.

Hi Kenneth! Thanks again for the suggestions about how we can improve the child development center group pages on OurCompassion.

Our plan was that each child development center group page would contain information about that particular center, a Google Map, a photo gallery for any center photos we have, a letter from the local pastor if we have one, and a list to connect you to other Our Compassion members also sponsoring in that center. These are core, key things that we hope to share with you about your child’s local center.

We receive pastor letters letter each year from the field. We are currently exploring how we can automatically connect these letters to each child development center group so that as we receive a new letter each year, it can automatically be uploaded to those pages as well.

Regrettably, we cannot deliver letters to pastors/project directors at this time. We appreciate the sentiment that you want to write and encourage them, but our focus is on facilitating communications between the sponsor and sponsored child. In the meantime, do know there are discussions going on here at Compassion about how to facilitate notes to pastors/project directors in future.

Please rest assured I will continue to update you personally, Kenneth/wildrider, as we continue down this road and as I continue in discussions with key team members here at Compassion about implementing these ideas. I will post my responses to both OurCompassion and here. You may see similar responses from Christy on OurCompassion as she has been in on these discussions from the beginning as well.

Hi Kenneth! I realize that it has been a few years since you initially posted this but I wanted to give you a little update. We are currently working hard to update our systems. These new updates, once they are implemented, will provide more real-time information regarding centers we work with and the children. Stay tuned as we put these changes into place in the next few years.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Letters from pastors at churches that run Compassion projects.

This week I received the letters from pastors at churches that run Compassion programmes.  It was great to read all the letters and to  learn more about the projects and how they impact on the children, church and wider communities.  It was especially lovely to receive letters from the pastots of projects that I have visited!
I was wondering - can we, as sponsors, now write letters to the pastors of the churches as well as to  the children?  I'm guessing that it is not the expectation, but would the pastors like to receive a short letter / words of encouragement / support?  Would Compassion translate and forward  letters from sponsors to the pastors?  There would have to be no expectation that the pastor would reply - as they need all the time they have to focus on the great work that they are doing. Just wondered....

Good morning, Ceri! I'm glad that you enjoy receiving these letters! We love the pastors that work with the children in our program and it means so much that you want to bless them with kind letters of encouragement. Regrettably, this is not something that's possible right now for our sponsors to do. I merged your question into this conversation as you had a very similar inquiry that Kenneth had. Susan answers this question in further depth and gave an update just over a month ago that I hope you find helpful.
