Letter writing acceptable conversation about it’s effects on the child? Do I ask how he is effected, or ignore what’s happening in Burkina Fasso?

Hi Christine! Thank you so much for asking this question and for your concern for your sponsored child! It certainly broke our hearts to hear of this tragic news in Burkina Faso :( Thankfully, it took place over 55km from the nearest Compassion center, so there were no children in our program that were affected by the shootings. There would probably be no benefit in asking your child how he was affected, but we certainly encourage you to keep all of the families who were affected in your prayers!

As another sponsor, I have had letters from a couple kids over the last year or two asking for prayer for peace in their country. Since that is what they are saying, that could be a good way of acknowledging you are aware of the things that have happened: "I am praying for peace in your country." And then we need to do it! God bless you and your child.
