We received a picture from our sponsored child. It is not the same child.

Hi Lisa! I think you must be talking about  the photo that you just received in response to the gift you sent to your child. Is that correct? What about this photo makes you think it is not of your child? I've taken a look at the photo as well as the other photos we have of him and can verify that the photo is indeed of him. His facial features match up exactly to the ones in his current Compassion photo.

I only have one photo of him besides the one sent with the gift. Will you please send me whatever you have on file for him? It may be something as simple as the screen of my computer and phone distorting the picture. His reply has 6 pages; however, three of them appear blank when I view either online or via the app.

Also, I would like to be added to the waiting list for correspondents. I greatly enjoy writing to Samwel. Generally, at what age can I expect him to begin writing me himself? I know someone assists him now but I do not receive any drawings from him.

Thank you!
Lisa

Hi Lisa! I am emailing you every photo we have of Samwel in our system, two of which are from previous years before you sponsored him. I am also sending the jpeg of the letter from him so that you can easily compare the photos without having to find the letter in your account. The letter itself does actually have three blank pages because they are the backs of the letter pages and the photo page. The scanners scan both sides of every page whether they are blank or not.

I just added you to the waiting list for another correspondent child. Usually, children begin to write their own letters around age 10 or older but some children may receive some extra help with their writing if they still aren't fully comfortable writing on their own.

There isn't a lot of room for drawings on the stationary that Samwel uses right now, but you can always ask him sweetly if he would draw something for you. It may even help if you draw something for him too! When I have a new sponsored child, I usually like to send them a tracing of my hand and ask them if they will send their tracing back to me. It's like a little hug in a letter even when you can't be there to physically hug them :).
