My relationship with a sponsored child was terminated with no explanation.  When I called, I was given a web site address that is invalid.

I'm not sure what the web site address thing is about.  When I lost a sponsored child, she was removed from my account as soon as Compassion was aware (in her case, her parents pulled her from the program. So no chance to say good-bye. OTOH I never received a letter from her either. So)  Compassion told me what they could when I got a hold of them and I learned more of the story when I got a letter from the center with more information. I was told I could write a final letter to my child by sending it in through the mail and writing FINAL LETTER at the end, but decided not to since I had never gotten even an introduction from her in the first place.

Kay, I sincerely apologize for the confusion with your child leaving the program and the website issue as well. Mesfin has actually graduated from Compassion's program, having reached the end of the relevant programs available to him at the project. He will continue to live in the same area and desires to earn his university degree and serve his community :). I also see that he is planning to find a job and work. The website the representative was trying to give you was one to receive a waiver for continuing correspondence now that Mesfin has graduated. If you would like that waiver, I can actually request one be mailed to you or give you the link again. I think there was a miscommunication regarding what that website link was based on what I heard listening to the call recording. Like Sarah mentioned, you can also write one final letter to Mesfin through Compassion if you would like to. Write your sponsor number and his child number at the top, along with the words "Final Letter", and Compassion will process it and do their best to deliver it to him.
