What happens when your sponsored child moves to a different area?

A friend of mine is currently in Bolivia to visit the children that she sponsors in Pueblo Nuevo, Bolivia. She offered to deliver some gifts to the little boy that we sponsor from the same center. When she arrived, she found out that our little boy had moved and is now living in Cochabamba. We were receiving letters rather frequently but for the past month and a half we haven't received any. I'm concerned that this move might affect our sponsorship. Does anyone know from experience what happens in this type of situation? Also, I keep receiving letters and emails about sponsoring an older child. Does this have anything to do with my current sponsorship?

Hi- I'm another sponsor, and regarding the letters & emails about sponsoring older children, I am getting them too, so I doubt it has anything to do with your specific sponsorship.

I was just worried that they had cancelled my sponsorship and wanted me to start a new one. That's probably not even a thing but I wanted to make sure. Thanks!

Hi Taylor, I'm also another sponsor and I'm sure one of the Compassion employees will be able to look at your specific account in the morning. However, generally if there is a center near where the child has moved to, they can just continue in the program at the new center. This happened a couple of years ago with one of my kids in Ecuador. I got a letter in the mail letting me know he had moved and had a new child number (to reflect the new project). Hopefully you'll hear from your sweet boy soon!

Hi Taylor! I apologize for the confusion. It looks like Jhon is still in our program at this time. Normally, when a child moves (and we are aware beforehand) we will transfer the child to a center in their new area if possible. We have quite a few centers in Cochabamba so I am confident that we will be able to transfer him to a new center and you will be able to keep the sponsorship. If not, we will always notify you. As others have mentioned, we are sending out appeals to sponsors about sponsoring older children because that is a particular need right now. It does not have anything to do with your current sponsored child's situation.
