I know sponsoring helps in many ways but I am curious to know if the child sponsored was unable to attend schooling beforehand. Aslo, what is a sponsored child receiving that a non sponsored child is not receiving?

Hi Ana! It looks like you just started sponsoring. Welcome to Compassion! We are so excited that you have chosen to make a difference in the lives of children in need through your sponsorship!

You are helping to provide holistic child development support for your sponsored children. We work holistically with individual children to address their spiritual, economic, social and physical needs. All of our student centers address these four child development needs, but they are given the freedom to decide how to administer the program in their particular culture and context. In some areas where we work, school is not available through a free public system so school fees are paid for as part of the program. In some areas, there is a large prevalence of malnutrition and difficulty for families to provide food for their families. In those contexts, we place more of a priority on feeding programs and malnutrition treatment. Some children may have unique needs and we will step in with Complementary Interventions to help meet their needs above and beyond what the program involves. Our program looks much like what we would call and "after-school" program here in the United States. We always provide your child with individual attention, bible teaching, health and hygiene education, medical checkups, recreational activities, tutoring, supplementary education, educational materials, vocational training, and programming for the parents and guardians.

Sometimes children are unable to attend school until they start the Compassion program. However, it looks like your children are still pretty young. One of your children is too young to attend school because he is only five and the other child started school just fine as part of the program.
