I was very intrigued with the infographic that Compassion posted on letter-writing and was disappointed to learn that 38% of children didn't receive a letter last year, and that the average number of letters was two. After seeing that information, I wondered how many sponsors do most children have over the child's time in the program? (I know it is one at a time and the goal is only one over the child's sponsorship - but how often does that happen?) Do the majority of children only have one sponsor? If a child loses a sponsor, how long does it normally take to get a new one? Does that time differ by the child's age? Thanks!

Hi Wako and Laura! I just wanted to give an update. I've passed this along to some people who have more access to stats like this than I do. They told me it could take a while but I've been following up periodically to see if they have the information yet. I'll let you all know as soon as I have it.

Thank you everyone for your patience! We actually did not have this type of data on our sponsored children previously and had to run some numbers. I just received word that the average number of sponsors a child has had over their lifetime in the program is....one sponsor! This is definitely something we are going for so we are happy with these results.

Our goal is to have no child be unsponsored for more than 90 days. As you may have noticed on our website, sometimes it can take up to a year or more for a child to find a sponsor. However, the majority of unsponsored children find a sponsor at or around 90 days.
