Hi,

I have been giving and writing to Jhon in Bolivia for over a year now. I was wondering if you could please break down what my $38 dollars covers each month. Does it go directly to Jhon? If not, where does it go? Who is the tutor that is always writing? Does the $38 provide food or water for Jhon or his family? Does the money only go to the child or does some go to the family as well? Thank you very much for your time. Have a wonderful night. Be blessed.

Sincerely,
Jess Harkins

Great question Jess. You may view exactly what your sponsorship provides by logging in to your account, clicking "My Sponsorships," and "Child Development Center." The last paragraph details what your sponsorship contribution provides for your child.
We do not give any portion of your sponsorship as cash to your child or their family, as this would cause dependency. Instead, each church project develops programs to benefit the overall needs of your child. Our goal is for them to be a self sustained, fulfilled Christian adult by the time they complete our program. To reach this goal, we ensure they receive a minimum of a primary education, vocational skills, hear Bible teachings, receive health education, among other activities the project sees a need for.

How much of the money that I donate every month is sent to the church who cares for my sponsored child? It sounds like none of the money goes to the child. The church is paid with my donation to educate the child, which is wonderful. We all know how important an education is. It is difficult to concentrate on an empty stomach. Is the child getting enough food and clothing?

This is a small amount of money every month, it's easy arithmetic. Please break it down for me. Thank you.

Peggy, Compassion is committed to at least 80% of your donation going to programs for your child. These programs are implemented through the local church. To find out exactly what your sponsorship provides, please follow the instructions in my comment above. There's also great information here:

Please break it down for me where the $38 dollars goes. I don't want a link to a compassion website tab, I want real numbers and programs that Eliana is involved in. If you have to send me a personal email that's fine. There is no reason as to why the sponsors should not know exactly what their child is doing and how they are being taken care of. It is your job to let us know.
I truly want to help and take care of Eliana and other helpless children, but I want more information.
In Christ,
Emma

The website is very helpful in understanding how my children are being cared for. Thank you very much. I think people just want more specific details, as much as can be given. With children, for example, with my niece, it is difficult to specifically say exact numbers of how much is allocated every month for her. Each month changes depending on the needs of the child. One month, more money can go to medical care and another month more to clothes, etc. So, is that also the same with these children? Also, I think some prices remain constant. So, is it possible for compassion to give exact prices of certain things, like how much tuition costs, or how much medical care costs? In America, we can get those answers. This is important, so that we can understand more about their countries & their needs. Also, I think people want to understand "the path" their money goes through. So, for example, "$38 was debited out of my account on March 17, 2013, then 80% of the money was wired to this country electronically or whatever & 20% was sent..., then it gets converted into the countries money or it gets put in a folder with the child's name or in the development center's bank account, etc." Basically, how does the center ensure that 80% of $38 actually gets to our child and their family & not to other children or the organization or to greedy hands. I think we are looking for more details like that so that we can keep trusting this company but also understand how it really works. Thanks for your time. God Bless.
