I read somewhere on the website that not even the regional offices have my information besides my name but I want to know who exactly can see my address, email, payment info, etc. Is it just the headquarters in Colorado and how much information are the children and their families given about me when I sponsor them?

Hi Amanda, I am another sponsor and I haven't really thought too much about this.  I have always thought they get our name(s) and that is it. I will be following this to see what the answer is.  Thanks for asking this.

My guess is the projects also get which Compassion program you are sponsoring with -- so are you in the US, Canada, etc. Because I see that information reflected sometimes when people post things they got from their child.

Hi Amanda,

This is a great question. Compassion is very, very careful about what information is given to the child, and even to the Compassion center and field offices. The only information that your child is given is your name and sponsor number. This is also the only information that any of our staff have access to outside of the office in the US. All of your billing information, address, email, etc is only view-able to employees in the US office. Furthermore, your credit card information is not view-able to anyone at Compassion, because we use a secure system that turns your card number into a token number, so that all we have access to is the last four digits on your card.
Compassion goes above and beyond when it comes to the safety of our information, not only for our sponsors but also for our children. We want all those involved to know without a doubt that they are safe with us. Our website has top security, which is why it is not an http, rather an https site. Furthermore, we are PCI compliant and our representatives are held to a very high standard, making sure that no information can be shared.
We want all of our supporters and children to feel safe with Compassion. Please know that we do put your safety first!
