I just received a letter supposedly from my child.  I have been sponsoring her for a few years and she's an only child, livng with just her mother.  Her letter states "I have fun playing with MY YOUNGER SIBLING and older cousin.  Am I to assume she didn't write this letter ???  What does that mean for the others I've received. I'm very concerned about this and really need an explanation.  thank you.

Maybe she's not an only child anymore? I've had several children not tell me they had new siblings until the siblings were around 2 years old.  Or maybe she has a younger cousin living with her now and it's a translation error or someone she considers a sibling.   Or maybe a half-sibing/step-sibling etc.  My kids families change a lot as relatives come and go.  Compassion may be able to look into it for you but my guess is that she has a new sister or brother she just hasn't mentioned until now (Just guessing cuz that seems common amoung my kids lol)

Bill and Patti, I am very sorry for the confusion that this letter has caused. Our records state that she is an only child and lives with her mother, but as Teresa mentioned, sometimes things change in families. For example, if her mother got remarried and had another child. That could happen in the span of a year. This most recent letter does look like it is from the same child. You might ask in a reply letter for more information about who she lives with and how old this new sibling is.
