I correspond with a child named Tamiru he has a sponsor but he still is not getting to go to school. why? his number is ET1650141. If we need to we may be able to send him to school, how much dose it cost? and don't sponsored children go to school with the money we pay!

Marcy, how old is Tamiru?  I am another sponsor and I have a couple in ET.  They are both in school and are 11 and almost 13.  One girl is in Addis Ababa and the other a couple hours west of the city.

Sometimes kids don't attend school if there isn't one nearby, like in Guatemala I understand there isn't always a high school in every community.  I can't remember which latin american country it is (maybe Honduras) in some instances the kids can only go to a boarding high school and I think it is more than Compassion can pay with the amount of money we donate so then sponsors can make up the difference with a family gift.

I will be watching your post to see what Compassion says about your child's situation in Ethiopia.  I feel sad when I see the comment, "not currently attending school" and they are at an age where they should be!

Sometimes kids start school later than 6, but it could be that his info hasn't been updated either.

Marcy, when was your child's information last updated? I have a little on in ET who's information said she was not attended school because of financial reasons then when her information updated I found out she is now in Kindergarten. She is 6 , also. He may have not been in school when his information that is displayed was collected (for several reasons); but he may be in school now.

Marcy, Heather has a very good point! Check the date the information was last updated on your account's child info on the website. That could be quite helpful! Is your child in Addis Ababa?

Marcy, that was a year ago and he may have just been registered at the center. I am very hopeful he has started school and will be watching for a reply from Susan or Emily of Compassion tomorrow.

Marcy, Denise's statement is why I asked how long you had been writing him. I was thinking that this was probably information that was given when he was registered since he is so young. That was the case with my Bontu from ET.
