Hello Troyd2210! I do see that you've been waiting to receive a letter from your child for over six months now and I am so sorry about that! I am sending an inquiry for you today to check on Christian and to have him write a new letter to you right away. It does look like we sent stationary to him at the project back in January. If he's already written a letter on that stationary, we will get that letter processed and on your account as soon as possible. It usually takes between six and eight weeks for us to receive a response to our inquiry from our country office in Togo. As soon as the letter has been processed, it will be ready to view on your account.

Thank you for looking into this. I will say I hope that children’s ability to correspond with their sponsors are not directly related to having stationary. Speaking for myself, letters written on standard notebook paper would do. Also is there not a liaison at each compassion site that could have access to a phone or email? I understand that MANY places you serve is rural but how can there be any true oversight. You have to be sympathetic that in today’s world where there is a scam around every corner. An organization such as yours should have safe guards (liaisons) in place to make sure you, yourself aren’t blindly taken advantage of, but could also give your sponsors a “warm fuzzy” about the status of what’s going on with their sponsored children in a timely manner. Again thanks for checking in on Christian and God Bless.

Troyd2210, I only mentioned that there had been stationary printed out and sent to the child to encourage you that a letter should be on the way soon. We send stationary for the child to write on with the letters that they receive from their sponsor so that they are able to write a reply to that letter. Once the child receives a letter from the sponsor, they have 60 days to write a reciprocal letter and send it back to the country office to be processed. Compassion does use specific stationary for child letters because it helps us track the letters when we scan them into our digital letter system. There is extra stationary at the centers for the children to use if they choose to write before a letter from their sponsor arrives in their hands. The staff at our projects do an incredible job keeping up with the children they serve at the centers and making sure that they are writing letters when they are supposed to. That being said, mistakes can happen as we are all human. Children can be absent on a letter writing day or they can forget to bring their finished letter to the project to be sent back to the country office, etc. The reason we have the ability to send inquiries to our country office is so that when mistakes happen or we need to check into a situation, we have the ability to do so in an efficient and timely way.
