I always send letters to my sponsor kids to your offices in Colorado but it suddenly is taking weeks sometimes a month to see my letters scanned. I sent 3 envelopes with letters, stickers and bookmarks on September 30th and I have yet to see any of the letters scanned. I also shipped the envelopes 2 day shipping which didn't cost that much and they arrived that Wednesday. Just how behind are they in the scanning dept? Do they not have enough people to scan letters. It has never taken this long????

Hello Angelslegacy! I am so sorry that you have noticed an increase in the time it takes to process a letter. Compassion receives the most letters this time of year because of the Christmas season approaching. We start encouraging sponsors to send their Christmas letters in as early as August, causing an increase in letter flow for several months. I do know that we are currently behind in processing letters. I don't have a specific timeframe on how far behind they are, but I will do my absolute best to find out for you. I know it can be frustrating when you don't see your letters start processing for some time after they should have arrived in our office.

Angelslegacy, I did check with our mail  department and we are currently up to date on Christmas and birthday letters and only several day on all other letters. I am so sorry, but I don't believe that we have these letters in our office. Are you sending these letters to our address of:

Compassion International

Attn Child Correspondence

Colorado Springs, CO 80997

Did you send these letters to us using a different address? Regrettably, since we are up to date on letters, I do believe these ones never made it to our office and we will need you to write them to your children again.

I returned to my local post office and was told that I needed to contact the postmaster. I have done this and he is looking into what exactly happened to my 3 envelopes. They have to be somewhere. In the mean time, I'm going to a different post office to mail letters to my kiddos. Yes, that is the address where I mail everything.

I have also just learned from reading other responses from compassion to other sponsors about this very issue that there is in fact a holiday backlog and they are behind in scanning.

Hello Angelslegacy, I am so sorry for the inconvenience. I would encourage trying to resend the letters like Sarah suggested. If it has been a month and you sent them by two day mail, we should have received and processed the letters by now. I know this is very frustrating and again I am sorry.

*UPDATE*
My local postmaster completed his investigation and he tracked my 3 manilla envelopes to Colorado. The last known mail processing plant they went through was in CO. I called CI and spoke with Laura to find out why almost 30 days after I sent mail for my kids, nothing had been scanned?? She told me that they have to be scanned soon if it made to them.
She told me to give it a couple more days...lo and behold!!!! when I logged in on Saturday morning, 2 of my kiddos letters were scanned in *happy dance*...but sadly, I still don't see a letter for my other kiddo scanned. So I guess they have a 30 day backlog after all :(...next year I'm sending Christmas envelopes to my kiddos first week in September.
