Why is it that I chose to sponsor $45, but about $63 was deducted from my account?

Jane, I am so sorry for any confusion or concern this odd amount has caused you. I am happy to research why $63 was withdrawn instead of $45 for you. Regrettably, I was not able to locate your account using your email address :(. Will you please provide your sponsor number, child's number, or email address associated with your account? sorry, i think i found out why. i didn't realise that the $45 meant 45USD, so it's converted to 63SGD. can i withdraw from the sponsorship & get a refund? regrettably, i do not have the ability to sponsor 63SGD every month.

Jane, did you just begin this sponsorship? I don't show that the transaction under that email address was successful. It looks like the sponsorship did not go through for you anyway.

Yes, I actually just began this sponsorship yesterday. The money hasn't been transacted yet as I chose to do the transfer on the 15th of each month. May I know how I can cancel the sponsorship then?

Do I just email ciinfo@us.ci.org? How long will it take to process the cancellation?

Jane, your sponsorship did not go through on our end anyway, so there is no sponsorship to cancel. Even though you chose to have the donations come out on the 15th of the month, the first month's donation is pulled immediately when processing the sponsorship online. That is what didn't go through on our end. The sponsorship is not set up and will not be.

It didn't? I received an email confirming that I am indeed sponsoring a child. Also, $63 is on hold in my bank acount.

The email that I used to register for child sponsorship is different from the email I'm using for this account.

Jane, you gave me the email address that you used to set up the account already, so I know it's not the same as the one you used on this forum. The sponsorship did not go through, possibly because you live in Singapore and not the US. Donations have to be made in USD when sponsoring a child through the Compassion USA site, which might be what caused your sponsorship to not go through. The email you received is a confirmation email that we received your request to sponsor. It does not guarantee that the sponsorship went through. I'm happy to keep an eye on it for another week or so to make sure that it doesn't try to go through again, but that shouldn't happen. The money should be taken off hold in your account soon.
