I would like to know why this is not considered a non-profit organization? If I give $38 a month, what part of that goes to running the organization and what part goes directly to the child's needs?

Hi Brenda, I am a sponsor also. I don't know why these questions show up in my email box, but your question is very good. I did not know that they are not a non-profit organization. I am interested in how long it takes for Compassion Int'l to give you an answer.

I am confused - on the Compassion International website at the bottom it says "Compassion International, Inc. is a registered 501 (c)(3) non profit organization." Where did you hear it was not?

Compassion is most certainly a registered non-profit. What led you to believe otherwise? You can also find financial info on their website or on charity navigator.

Hello Brenda,

Compassion International is a non-profit organization. Atthe bottom of our website, it does say that we are a non-profit organization,as Erin Winters stated above. Below you will find the links to our financialintegrity and the link that Charity Navigators has reviewed us as well. CharityNavigator is an independent, non-profit charity rating organization. You willalso find a link of a blog post we have asking if Compassion is a trustworthyorganization. Where did you hear that Compassion was not a non-profitorganization? Over half of the contributions receive go directly towards helping the children in our program. 82.4% of the contributions we receive go directly to our Child Development Programs. This is to help the center that your child attends, to help the child you are sponsoring. 17.6% of the contributions we receive go to supporting services like fundraising and administration costs.
