I have been making payments for 3 months and haven't received anything except a payment bill. Why! I've sent letters and stuff and I haven't heard anything. No news letters or updates. If I don't soon I will end my sponsorship.

What's ironic is I just ended my sponsorship and also just wrote our first e-mail to our sponsored child less than a month ago. We are going through family difficulty and had to end our sponsorship. I was disturbed by how much stuff I got in the mail with such nice stationary but never received anything from our sponsored child and didn't expect to since I read everyone's issues with never receiving a thing. Well, the same day we received a we are sorry to lose you as a sponsor letter we received a translated letter from our sponsored child. Coincidence? I truly don't think so.

Hi Britnee! I’m another sponsor like you, but I just wanted to let you know that it can take up to four months after you begin your sponsorship to receive your first letter from your child. I’m sorry that you haven’t heard from them yet. You must be excited to get to know your sponsored child, and I know that waiting on letters from our kids is very hard. I’ve been sponsoring for almost two years now and my wife and I sponsor two kids. I just want to encourage you that sponsoring a child takes patience, but it has been such a blessing to get to know our kids and to get to be a part of their lives. The letters have been going a little slower than normal for the past few months because this spring Compassion began the process of switching over to a new letter system where letters are scanned instead of mailed to speed up the travel time on letters significantly. I just recently got a letter on August 18th that was written by one of our kids on July 25th, which I was super excited about! Anyway, welcome to Compassion and I hope that you will hang in there. I truly believe that you’ll be glad you did!

Britnee, I am so sorry that the beginning of your sponsorship has been so discouraging for you. I know how hard the wait for that first letter from your child can be :(. Like Adam mentioned, it does take up to four months for sponsors to receive the first letter from their child, but I took a look at your account and saw that Angelina is currently writing her first letter to you as we speak! I would just encourage you to hang in there a little longer while we wait for her letter to be ready to process. Sponsoring is such a joy, and I cannot wait for you and Angelina to develop a deep relationship over the years!

That's encouraging! Thank you! I knew it would take awhile but I thought Compassion as a company would send out news letters and such or something like that every now and then. It makes it hard when you're donating 40 dollars a month to a cause you aren't hearing from.
