No, we are only able to send paper items, all of which are scanned and forwarded to the kids.  The only actual items that will be sent directly to a child are bookmarks, musical cards, and stickers.

Yes, but why paper only? Fabric does not weigh much more than paper, if at all. It also is about as thick. So why allow stickers or even musical cards, which weigh more, but not fabric?

For many years now, Compassion has said all items must be paper.  They want to ship everything to the countries as 'documents' and if fabric is enclosed that doesn't work.  It would cost them a lot of money.  Now with the new guidelines of only a few items being sent (stickers, etc), hopefully these savings can be passed on to the projects and kids.  All the other organizations that do allow you to send actual items make the sponsor send directly to the country.  With Compassion, they are paying the postage to get the items to the kids.

Hi Marianna! Debbie is right; we want to make sure we are being the best stewards of the support we receive for these children. I'm sorry that you can't send your child fabric, but they still appreciate all the special letters and gifts you send. We encourage you to keep blessing your child through your loving and uplifting words. The guidelines will allow us to reallocate the money saved to reaching more children in need. If you would still like to bless your child, you are welcome to send monetary gifts! Your gift would go farther over there, and the money used to purchase your child's gift would help stir their local economy as well. We greatly appreciate your love for your child and your desire to bless them! Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thank you. I did not realize that you sent them as documents.
