I sponsored a child at the beginning of March. I was given a package saying that they put the wrong picture with the wrong name and that my “girl” is actually a boy. They said they would send more information but I have not heard anything. How can I find out what child I sponsored? I’m thoroughly confused and have been wondering for about a month now.

Hello Leah,

I really apologize for any confusion about Sefanya's gender. The photo of your child has always been correct, Sefanya is a girl. However, her gender was entered in to the system incorrectly as a male. This error has been corrected and the letter that you received was to let you know that this change was made. I am so sorry that it was not easy to understand or was worded incorrectly in any way. The welcome packet that was mailed out to you, should have included information about Sefanya and a picture of her. This information is all correct. I would also encourage setting up your online account. We do offer a free mobile app as well. Through either of these you can see the latest photo of Sefanya, information about her, the child center that she attends and information about her country. You are also able to write her letters online and upload photos to share with her. It is a wonderful way to keep updated on your account and I hope you find it very useful. Welcome to the Compassion family, we are so grateful that you have chosen to sponsor Sefanya. We are here to serve you, so if you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. I love your name by the way! ;-)
