The Youth Development Program: before we commit to this our question is will our child Marcos be part of the benefits of this program. He has a heart desire for computer access to assist in his learning.

Hi Theresa! Thank you so much for your heart for Marcos and the desire to see him succeed in life! Yes, every child in Compassion's program is able to participate in our youth development programming. It's actually woven into the curriculum that each student works through at their center during their time in Compassion's program. Compassion's Youth Development Program provides youth ages 12 and older with customized training and educational paths according to their own unique potential, and God-given talents and purpose. Our prayer is that each young person finishes well in the Compassion program, equipped with the knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors that allows them to succeed and have a sustainable way to support themselves. The Youth Development Strategy Compassion has helps support the following:
  • Formal education, including access to secondary school, college/seminary, and helping students prepare for entrance exams
  • Non-formal education, including vocational training, apprenticeships, assistance with job searches and computer skills, and enrichment camps and retreats
  • Income generation training, including business skills education, the provision of equipment and materials to start businesses, and micro-enterprise opportunities
